- suggest leaving at onceCHOICE OF WORDS:Русскому глаголу предлагать соответствуют английские глаголы to suggest и to offer. "Предлагать" в значении "выражать готовность что-либо дать, предоставить в распоряжение или сделать для кого-либо" соответствуют английскому глаголу to offer (to offer smth, to offer to do smth): to offer smb help (money, a book). Русский глагол "предлагать" в значении "представить что-либо на обсуждение/на рассмотрение" эквивалентен английскому to suggest smth, to suggest doing smthUSAGE:(1.) В отличие от русского глагола предлагать, который может употребляться как с косвенным дополнением (кому?), следующим сразу за глаголом, так и без него, английский глагол to suggest во всех конструкциях употребляется без косвенного дополнения. Глагол to suggest употребляется в конструкциях suggest smth, suggest doing smth и suggest that smb (should) do smth При наличии двух дополнений косвенное дополнение всегда употребляется с предлогом to и следует за прямым дополнением: He suggested a new plan to us. Русскому выражению Он предложил нам пойти погулять соответствуют английские выражения He suggested going for a walk или He suggested that we should go for a walk. Этому же правилу подчиняется глагол to demand. (2.) See explain, v; USAGE (1.). -
